Recommendations for Post-Orthodontic Treatment

Dear Patient,

You have completed the active phase of your treatment and have now entered the passive phase. The same rules apply for both metal and clear retainers.

Clear Aligner Use:

Clear aligners should be worn for 20-22 hours per day. If you have a fixed retainer, 12 hours of daily use is sufficient. It's important to remove your aligners while eating and brush your teeth before putting them back on after meals. Be sure to clean your aligners when you remove them. You can use a toothbrush and toothpaste or aligner cleaning tablets, which are available at pharmacies or large stores. Avoid drinking hot beverages or eating while wearing the aligners. Always store your aligners in their case to prevent loss.

Fixed Retainer Care:

After orthodontic treatment, fixed retainers are placed behind the teeth to maintain the correct position. Proper care of these retainers is essential. In addition to regular tooth brushing, you can clean between the retainer and your teeth using Oral B Super Floss. Be careful not to damage the retainer while using floss. After brushing, carefully clean both above and below the retainer.

Fiberotomy:

To prevent teeth from returning to their previous positions after orthodontic treatment, gum procedures may be recommended. This procedure is advised because gum fibers may cause the teeth to shift back. The purpose of this procedure, performed under local anesthesia, is to help the teeth forget their previous positions and better adapt to their new alignment.

We wish you healthy days.
